100% handmade in the UK - the Chopra MacheteThe Chopra Machete Poison Dart Frog was designed to limb trees, make camp, clear trails and process wood.
The Poison Dart Frog Chopra is inspired by the Yellow Banded Poison Dart Frog of the South American jungles. It features a Darth black smooth blade coating, Black paper Richlite handles and a Bright Yellow G10 Liner highlight - just like it's namesake.
The Chopra PDF has the heft and blade geometry to fell a multiple-trunk Hazel with ease.
It's upswept cutting edge keeps the weight raised and better balanced throughout a swing. The forward weighted blade gives a significant chop – biting deep into hard wood and removing branches with ease.
The Chopra PDF replaces the need for a hatchet and cleaver when out in the bush.
It is a batoning beast thanks to the intentionally raised forward spine. This spine shape has three major advantages over other machete designs:
1. The weight is where you want it - right over the blade 'belly' where most leverage and balance will be concentrated in a downward chop.
2. Batoning has a level platform to strike. This reduces the chance of wayward swings deflecting off the spine.
3. Draw cuts provide enough blade for a secure grip with the supporting hand.
The Chopra PDF features a primary sabre grind with a secondary grind finished on a linishing machine to limit pinching and aid deep cuts.
it's made from CS80 Carbon spring steel for fast and effective sharpening and great edge retention. It will need sharpening from time to time and in CS80 this is easily achieved.*
Ergonomics is always at the forefront of our design philosophy. The smooth and sculpted handle is a handsome combination of functional modern and traditional SE Asian shapes.
The butt curves and swells to provide a comfortable and safe handle, giving hours of blister-free use. The handle length is extended to allow for extra leverage chops.
The 'choked-up' forward grip with generous finger guard and unique ridges on the front of the thumb rise give amazing control for detailed work. Whilst the mid-grip is a perfect compromise of power and dexterity.
The finger guard has been carefully designed. It is separated from the choil to avoid the index finger accidentally slipping onto the cutting edge. A concern when swinging a machete or larger knife for an extended period.
It is a skeletonised full tang construction offering weight saving for extended use and peace of mind when using this tool day in day out for serious work.
Each Chopra is individually numbered and features our founding designers initials.
This blade is covered by our limited lifetime warranty.
*As a carbon steel, you will need to keep your blade well cared for by keeping it dry and protected from rust.
We recommend using a light machine oil or Steel Guard Lubricating Cloth. After use, simply wipe off any dirt then wipe with the oiled cloth to keep the steel gleaming. The black coating does help keep this blade more resistant to corrosion than the plain steel variants.
